In the north of the Iberian Peninsula (blue area), the climate is predominantly oceanic with cool (not cold) winters and warm (but not hot) summers. It's a pretty rainy area, with rainfall well distributed throughout the year, although summers are drier than the rest of the year. From a climatic point of view, the best time to visit these areas is from June to September when temperatures are mild and we have a lower rainfall than the rest of the year. An example of the type of climate that we find in this area is Bilbao.
In coastal areas of southern and eastern Spain (orange area) the climate is Mediterranean. Usually the winters are mild and rainy, whit hot and dry summers. The best months to visit these areas are from March to November. An example of the type of climate that we find in this area is Barcelona.
In central Spain (green zone) climate is continental, with cold winters and hot summers. In general it is a little rainy area, being the most abundant rainfall in spring and autumn. The best months to visit these areas are from April to October. An example of the type of climate that we find in this area is Madrid.
